County Meath is to the south. Known as the Royal County, it has ancient monasteries, Norman castles, passage tombs, and important sites from Irish history. Attractions nearby include Trim Castle, Brú na Bóinne, and the Battle of the Boyne. The River Boyne connects these sites.

County Cavan is to the north. Called Ireland’s Lakeland County, it has over 365 lakes, forests, rivers, and trails. Visitors can fish, kayak, walk, cycle, or relax by the water. Notable natural sites include Dún na Rí Forest Park and Burren Park.
