Golden Mile Retreats House

The Rambling House

Once, in every townland in Ireland, there was a house where people gathered. For stories, music, poetry, conversation, and the kind of company that stays with you.

The Rambling House at Golden Mile Retreats is that house, revived — rooted in a landscape with more history per acre than almost anywhere in Ireland.

The Gatherings

Once a month, a small group convenes at Golden Mile Retreats for an evening — or a weekend — built around something worth your time. Life writing. Theatre. Local history. Music. Slow conversation by a fire.

The first gathering takes place on 15th August 2026.

You are warmly invited.

The Setting

On the border of two counties, beside Mullagh Lake, at the foot of the hill where an O’Reilly castle once stood. Jonathan Swift wrote Gulliver’s Travels a mile from here.

This is not an ordinary address.

The Rambling House is open.

Join us on 15th August for a day of Life Writing with Dr Simon A. Thomas.
